Video Preview: John Kao

A Series of Excerpts from Keynote Presentations

(Running time: 14:37)

John Kao stimulates audiences around the globe with his thoughts about innovation and creativity. He speaks about the importance of destroying what we know to get to what we don't know. He asks companies where their "woodsheds" are--where are the places in an organization where individuals feel safe to create radical, innovative ideas? John describes corporate improvisation--jamming, in jazz--as having the belief in the possibility of achieving great things even if you cannot prove them right now. Through a demonstration on the piano, John shows that creativity and "regularly finding the new" stems not from certainty and knowing the destination or result, but from embarking on a journey and improvising in a variety of ways as you go.
