MIT Initiative on Technology and Self & Sherry Turkle’s Series of Books

Sherry talks about the MIT Initiative on Technology and Self and her efforts to get institutions and the worlds of technology, engineering, and science think about effects on technology, society, and the self. She discusses her 10 years of research looking at variety of ways that society changes us as individuals, our relationships, our sensibility, and the way we do business. In this portion Sherry offers a preview of the series of books that she is working on, including: Evocative Objects, Falling for Science, The Inner History of Devices, Simulation and Its Discontents and Cyber Intimacy Cyber Solitude. Through this series of books Sherry examines not simply what technology does for us – but what it does to us as people.
